Rail Fence Cipher or Zig Zag Cipher

This week’s cipher is a Rail Fence Cipher. It was used during the Civil War and is based on zigzag of a rail fence. You write this cipher in zigzag pattern. 

Draw a zig zag:  

When write your message (bethe) from peak to dip:     B               T              E

                                                                                                E              H                  

Your code would be:  B   T   E

                                     E   H    

To decode: Write the first letter on the top row, then the first letter on the bottom row, second letter on top row, second letter on bottom row, etc.  The result is BETHE or Be the.
