The Caesar Cipher
This week’s proverb is written in the Caesar Cipher because the Roman general Julius Caesar used it to send messages to his troops. It is a simple shift cipher in which the letters in the alphabet shift down several spaces. In this case, start with A and count down 8 letters to H; the code would be H=A, I=B, J=C, etc. This is an easy code to write and with 26 tries you can easily break it.
