Edgar Allen Poe was a famous student of cryptography. Poe wrote an essay, “A Few Words on Secret Writing” in which he offered a substitution cipher. Felix has adapted Poe’s cipher to the keys on a computer keyboard.
Edgar Allan Poe was one of the first writers to use ciphers in his plots. His short story, “The Gold Bug.” Increased the public’s interest in cryptography. In this short story Poe used a substitution code. This week’s code is based on Poe’s code published in 1844.
